FES Syria Project

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) established its Syria Project in 2012, which works regionally towards strengthening progressive Syrian actors to effectively contribute to a democratic transformation process. Project activities aim at enabling civil society organizations, youth groups and progressive political movements to participate in the political discourse and to help build sustainable peace in Syria. The FES Syria Project also supports independent research to contribute to the discussion and analysis of relevant political and socio-economic issues. Finally, it seeks to encourage a pluralistic and active Syrian civil society through promoting media initiatives and cultural events.

The FES Syria Project cooperates with a number of Syrian partners and supports their work through seminars, capacity building workshops, and small grants for project activities and research.
